Hi my name is ___________, I'm a student at the University of Maryland and a concerned environmentalist. Right now, the University is planning on bulldozing 9 acres of forest on our campus, part of the Wooded Hillock. This is to make room for some facilities they are relocating to make way for the East Campus Development. I understand the County Council has a lot of say over the approval and funding of the East Campus Development. I would appreciate it if Councilman/Councilwoman _________ worked with their colleagues to prevent the destruction of the Wooded Hillock, which is a valuable ecosystem. If Councilman/Councilwoman __________ would like to contact me to learn more about this issue, my number is ________, and my e-mail is __________. Thanks for your time.

Dear Councilman _________,
My name is ______________, and I am (student/faculty member/staff member/alumnus/concerned citizen) in (the University of Maryland/Prince George's County). Recently, the administration has made a decision to bulldoze one of the last forested areas on campus (known as the Wooded Hillock), to make room for a bus depot and fueling station that will be displaced by the East Campus Development project. This forest is a pristine region which is home to many rare species in College Park. There's a concern that the runoff from this pending development will pollute the Anacostia Watershed. Furthermore, it serves as a valuable teaching resource for forestry and environmental science classes. It would be a shame for the University to callously destroy this beautiful wooded area, especially in light of our recent designation as an "arboretum and botanic garden."
I know that the County Council has considerable influence on the approval and funding of East Campus, and I would greatly appreciate if the Council worked together to stop this blatant disregard for the principles of sustainable development. If you have any further questions, please feel free to email or call me at ___________.
Sincerely,
